Walk the peak line to the church on the temple site to sense how the pious and the ancestors could have reached their destination.

Time was not generous to the church/temple and its site. Some basal stone blocks are still in place marking the corners of the church/temple along with some layered stones here and there. Some relevance to a patio could still be recognized. A burial site lies next to the temple. Look downhill, and you would realize the size of the temple from the mass of building blocks scattered on the slope.

Next to the church/temple was another structure, one facade is still intact attesting its location. What happened is unknown! It could have been an earthquake or a collapse of an underground cavern.

Like many of the mountain church/temples, this one still awaits professional exploration and excavations. It would uncover multitude of stories that will certainly be incredible, as it monitored a region of high activity and main communication routes from the Bekaa caravans on one side to the coastal cavalry troops on the other.

المعبد الروماني

غنى في التاريخ والتراث الحضاري

ستقودكم الدرب الى كنيسة او آثار معبد شيد بين القمم. تأملوا خطواتكم، قد تسيرون دربا حجها اهل الكنيسة او سارها اهل المعبد منذ آلاف السنين

لم تسلم الكنيسة/المعبد وموقعها من تهديدات الزمن. لا تزال حجارة أساسات الكنيسة/المعبد في موقعها لتدل على حناياها وزواياها كما بعض الحجارة المرصوفة من الجدران. كما يمكننا تخيل ردهة الكنيسة في موقعها. من معلوماتنا عن الموقع ان الاقدمين دفنوا موتاهم بالقرب من المعبد. انظروا المشهد على سفح الجبل فهو اكثر دلالة على قيمة المعبد وحجمه وكذلك على احداثه اذ تخبر جدران المعبد المتدحرجة على السفح بضخامة الموقع.

وبمحاذاة الكنيسة/المعبد تجدون مبنىً غارقاً تحت القمة ولا تزال جدارنه محمية داخل الحفرة. لا نعرف تحديداً ماذا حصل! انما للمشهد دلالاته فقد يكون عامل زلزاليٌ أدى الى خسوف أرض المبنى أو إن خزاناً مائياً داخلياً تقوّضَ.

كنيسة/معبد قرية كفرسلوان كغيرهما من العديد من الكنائس/المعابد الجبلية لا تزال تنتظر الاهتمام العلمي والثقافي والحضاري. إن ما يمكن لهذا الموقع أن يكشفه عن تاريخنا هام جدا كونه شاهد على حقبة مميزة في موقع متميز عاصر حضارات ناشطة وخطوط تواصلٍ من قوافل البقاع الى طواقم الخيالة على الطرق الساحلية.
