As the friends of nature, perseverance and dedication are two of our main assets .Our main drive and motivation is the preservation of all of Lebanon’s natural assets. We never lost trust in any of our natural wealth and fortunately our vision was generously shared by the European Union.
Joint efforts and continuous motivation emerged in a successful deployment and the creation of the first underwater reef garden in the Middle East. Our project took place in Jounieh bay where 318 structures were deployed to occupy an underwater area of 260 sqm.
Our project “ERA1-Marine restoration through artificial reef “aims as its title shows, to restore the marine ecosystem in order to revive the natural cycle of the sea.
The area of the garden is now declared as an underwater reserve, where fishing is forbidden but fish won’t be restricted to the reef and will thrive freely again in all of Jounieh bay. Divers are also welcome to visit the underwater premises but only if accompanied with professionals as well. The reserve is marked with buoys equipped with surveillance cameras to keep an eye on the security of our newly deployed garden.
This isn’t The Friends of Nature’s first achievement in the environmental field and surely won’t be our last, please enjoy the beautiful shots taken underwater and throughout the deployment.
