Marine Ecosystem Recovery Through Artificial Reef (ERA1) is our most recent project for marine ecosystem restoration. ERA1 was started in 2018 and completed at the end of 2020. The project was thankfully funded by the European Union.
In spite of the challenges of COVID-19 outbreak and its successive lockdowns, and the crippling socio-political instability and the highly impeding financial and economic crises since 2019, Friends of Nature completed the project successfully adding testimony to its capacity to work in highly challenging situations and to progress its commitments above all impediments. We thank our teams for their strong belief, unbroken perseverance spirit, and non-compromised commitment to biodiversity conservation, which allowed us to reach our aims, serve the desired outcomes and attain the designated impact.
Friends of Nature is pursuing the monitoring of this accomplishment, and continues to work toward marine recovery building new projects with the hope to replicate this pioneering icon along the Lebanese coast where it is truly needed.
